Interior view of the Lonja de Seda (Silk Pavilion) or Lonja de los Mercaderes (the lodge merchants) is a Gothic building, whose construction began in 1483.
The building served as a place of negotiation, a forum for political parties and for meeting the socio-cultural groups.
La Lonja housed the Consulate of the Sea, a merchant court and theTaula de Canvis i Depósits, a bank.
The building is located is on the Market Square, 31, opposite the church of Saint John and of the Mercado Central in Valencia.
In 1996, the Lonja was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
